I have been engineering for seven years, starting with small projects as a student at the University of Texas at Austin where I received a BS in Radio-Television-Film. Jumped around several internships and assistant engineering jobs in such studios as Music Lab in Austin, Sound Arts, and Digital Services in Houston. After working as a first engineer/mixer/producer at Monster Island Studios DC for a year, I returned to Austin, Texas to open Republic Studios. After three years and many albums, EPs and demos, I have decided to temporarily close Republic Studios and free lance. Although I am now based out of Houston, Texas...I can travel to your city/country or your band can come to me.

I have worked with almost all genres of popular music from Rock and Hip-Hop to Country, Blues and Jazz. I personally enjoy doing heavy Rock, Metal and punk…but am happy to work with anyone creative.

I have extensive knowledge of Pro-Tools, but also analog recording. I have a good collection of microphones and equipment to round out whatever studio I might be working at.

My rates are negotiable, depending on the size and scope of the project. I try my best to work with all budgets. Contact me to discuss your project and budget.

I also co-own Arclight Records, an indie label based in Austin. I have recorded many of the releases for the label, which can be heard at Arclight Records.com

To the right are some clips (and a few full songs) of some of my work with various bands. Click on the band’s name to hear a sample. Most of these songs were done on tight budgets, affordable to most musicians. Note: some of these clips are not mastered.

Here are some quotes from album reviews that mention my engineering and production:

"Similar to the Amplified Heat full-length, producer David Elizondo helps make it apparent that this is a great live band. Not sure how he does it, but whatever it is, it ’s an integral ingredient that most who work the board lack. More bands should look into recording at Republic Studios, just like more fans should look into Hognose." Mat Urbancich, Hellride Music from a review of Hognose "Longhandle"

"...I absolutely love the sound you're getting. Whatever you're doing in the studio, you're getting the shit that everyone else either can't get or doesn't have a clue about. Good job and keep up the good work." Jeff Dahl, Carbon 14 Magazine in regard to my production on Amplified Heat "In For Sin" and SuperHeavyGoatAss "60,000 Years"

"The production of this disc really brings out some cool aspects of the band that normally you wouldn’t catch, primarily how David Elizondo snags each and every nuance from this power trio. Is it live or is it Memorex? Sounds fucking live to me; in fact, it sounds like you’re right there centre stage getting battered by their unrestrained enthusiasm. I’m especially digging the drum sound, and how Chris Ortiz really makes the most of what sounds like a basic, stripped down kit." Nick Muc, stonerrockchick.com from a review of Amplified Heat "In For Sin"
